Who we are

Omtala (“Omtala”, “we”, “us”) is a generative-engine-optimisation (GEO) intelligence service for PR agencies and brand teams. It is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] [, a company registered in England and Wales under company number [COMPANY NUMBER],] registered office at [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. For any question about this policy or your data, contact [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL].

What Omtala does with data

Omtala runs the questions you configure against AI platforms (currently Google/Gemini, Bing, Bing AI, and Perplexity) on a schedule you set, captures the responses and any screenshots, extracts cited sources, and — where enabled — generates a narrative/sentiment analysis of each response using Anthropic’s Claude models. The data this produces belongs to the client account it was generated for, and is shown back to you in your dashboard.

Data we collect

Account data. Name, email address, and authentication data, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.

Content you provide. Client and product names, tracked questions, brand names, and any free-text context (“brief”) you add — this may include information about your own clients, which you are responsible for having the right to share with us.

Tracking results. AI-generated response text, screenshots, and cited source URLs produced by running your configured questions against third-party AI platforms.

Billing data. Subscription plan and status. Card details are entered directly into Stripe’s payment interface and are never stored on Omtala’s servers.

Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, request metadata) generated by normal operation of the service.

Why we process it

To provide and operate the service you’ve signed up for; to process payment via Stripe; to authenticate your account via Clerk; to respond to support requests; to maintain the security and reliability of the platform; and to comply with legal obligations.

Our legal basis is performance of the contract with you (delivering the service you’ve subscribed to), our legitimate interest in operating and securing the platform, and — for billing — compliance with our legal obligations as a merchant.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of subprocessors to run Omtala. We don’t sell your data, and we only share what each provider needs to do its job:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management
  • Stripe — payment processing and billing
  • Vercel — application hosting and file storage (screenshots, blog images)
  • Turso — database hosting
  • Anthropic — narrative/sentiment analysis of tracking results (Claude API)

Running your tracked questions also means Omtala’s systems interact with third-party AI platforms (currently Google/Gemini, Microsoft Bing/Copilot, and Perplexity) to obtain their public responses. We only submit the query text you’ve configured — never your account, payment, or contact details — to those platforms.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK/EEA (notably the US). Where they do, we rely on their standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

Cookies

Omtala currently uses only strictly-necessary cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. We don’t use analytics or marketing cookies at this time. If that changes, this policy and an in-product cookie notice will be updated first.

How long we keep it

We retain your account and tracking data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you reactivate or to meet legal/accounting obligations. You can request deletion at any time — see “Your rights” below.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls on internal systems, and reliance on providers (Clerk, Stripe, Vercel, Turso) that maintain their own security programmes. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

If you’re in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL].

Children

Omtala is a business tool and is not directed at, or intended for use by, anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if how we handle data changes, and post the new effective date above. Material changes will be notified to account holders directly.
